Data storage through the decades …
Looks like we’re heading for the cloud in a big way … data seems to have multiplied twelve fold in the last 10 years but from a trend of almost doubling in size year after year as technology increases it’s detail and superior imagery.
Back in 1990 photoshop retouching was done to files about 1Mb. Today we’re looking at 2Gb retouching files. Where will it end?.. Well mostly in the cloud, with farms of data warehouses storing, backing up and retrieving our digital lives to leave mankind’s largest social and cultural records history has ever seen. What technology has finally given us plebs, is the ability to write history, something previously available only to the victors of war or political consensus. Finally we are free from the atrocities of misrepresentation by Government in our international policies and beliefs. Ask the Government why we’re in Libya and they will say “to depose Gaddifi and free the people of Libya.” Ask any member of the public and they will say “oil”. So I urge you to record life for the generations yet to be. It may stop the absurdity of perceived freedom we are sterilised in today..
